A 30-year-old engineer associated with the BrahMos missile project, Akashdeep Gupta, passed away suddenly in Lucknow under suspicious circumstances. Akashdeep, who worked with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), was rushed to Lokbandhu Hospital late on Tuesday after his health rapidly deteriorated. Despite medical efforts, he was declared dead during treatment. Preliminary police reports point to a heart attack as a probable cause, though the exact reason will be confirmed only after the post-mortem.
Akashdeep was originally from Alambagh, Lucknow and had been part of the BrahMos missile mission for the past three years. He was married recently in April 2025 to Bharti, an employee at Canara Bank in Delhi, who was visiting Lucknow to celebrate Diwali. His sudden demise has shocked the community. Police are investigating the matter thoroughly to rule out any other causes.
His father, Kuldeep Gupta, a retired Uttar Pradesh Police officer, mentioned that the family had happily celebrated Diwali together before the incident. Akashdeep enjoyed playing cricket and had felt slightly unwell after dinner before being taken to the hospital. The investigation and post-mortem report are awaited to uncover the definitive cause.
This unexpected loss of a young engineer involved in a crucial defense project has stirred concern and condolences from the defense and local communities.
