Celebrating 50 Years Since her record deal in November 1975!
Roots & Rise: The Early Years
Born on March 28, 1955, in McAlester, Oklahoma, Reba Nell McEntire was raised on an 8,000-acre cattle ranch. Her childhood was deeply influenced by rodeo culture, with her father and grandfather both being world-champion steer ropers. This grounding in authentic American life would later become a hallmark of her music.
Her mother, Jacqueline, a former country singer aspirant, recognized and nurtured Reba’s burgeoning musical talents. Reba, alongside her siblings Pake and Susie, formed the harmonizing group, “Singing McEntires,” laying the foundation for her illustrious career.
Early performances paved the way for a legendary career.
Milestone Moment:
After singing the national anthem at the National Finals Rodeo in 1974, Reba secured her recording contract with PolyGram/Mercury Records in November 1975. This marked the official start of a journey that would span five decades!
